New Brunswick Chamber of Commerce

Chamber Profile: The Edmundston Region Chamber of Commerce

The Edmundston Region Chamber of Commerce was established in 1907, making it one of the oldest chambers of commerce in New Brunswick in addition to being the largest francophone chamber of commerce in the province. The chamber is part of an impressive network of business associations through the New Brunswick Chamber of Commerce, with over 6,000 French and English businesses, the Atlantic Provinces Chamber of Commerce with its 128 member chambers, the Canadian Chamber of Commerce and 170,000 members and the International Chamber of Commerce representing the chambers of commerce throughout the world.

The Edmundston Region Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the City of Edmundston, the Department of Post-secondary Education, Training and Labour along with Enterprise Madawaska, announced the official launch of the Welcoming Committee in January 2007. It is an organization that reflects the importance of a warm welcome for new people settling in the Edmundston region.

The Committee’s aim is centered on every person or family returning or arriving to the region, from another city, province or country and settling down in Edmundston. For us, every newcomer is a bearer of different horizons and experiences, each serving to enrich our community. According to the Committee, its goal is "to make the City of Edmundston a symbol of openness and diversity, weaving relationships and building bridges among traditions and cultures, in addition to getting re-acquainted with our own".
