New Brunswick Chamber of Commerce Signs MOU with Key Indian Association
For release 8 September, 2009
HALIFAX, NS – The New Brunswick Chamber of Commerce (NBCC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the All India Associations of Industries (AIAI) at a trade mission in Halifax on September 1st, 2009.
NBCC Chairman Peter Lindfield signed the MOU with AIAI President Vijay Kalantri. Mr. Lindfield and Mr. Kalantri later discussed a number of potential opportunities in which New Brunswick and Indian firms would have a mutual interest.
“As the volume of exports from India to North America continues to rise, New Brunswick is in a strategic position to build and capitalize on new trading relationships with this rapidly developing economic powerhouse,” said Mr. Lindfield. “This excellent event was a critical opportunity to meet directly with Indian business people who already know that Atlantic Canada is their best gateway to the North American market, and want to explore trading partnerships that can be developed in the short to mid-term period,” he said.
The World Trade Centre Atlantic Canada invited Atlantic Canadian companies to participate in an exclusive incoming mission of Indian business delegates in Halifax from August 30 to September 4, 2009. The event was organized by the Atlantic Canada Opportunity Agency (ACOA).
